What’s the Opportunity?

Anchor QEA is seeking a senior-level, entrepreneurially minded professional to help expand our presence as part of our Planning and Restoration Practice to better capture growing opportunities in the energy and power markets. We are particularly interested in an individual who has experience in growing an energy/power practice with an emphasis on renewables. The successful candidate will be a driving force behind the growth of Anchor QEA in the region and in North America and will help to build and oversee project teams. They will be responsible for developing new clients, winning and executing energy/power planning and permitting projects, and growing our experience with federal, state, and local clients, including energy and power infrastructure developers. Responsibilities:

The successful applicant will have had previous experience building an energy practice and will be a driving force behind growth. They should have a previous track record of using their own creativity, experience, insight and entrepreneurial spirit to help grow the business. Core responsibilities include 50 percent project execution and 50 percent business development:

Project Execution

  • Leading or providing strategic direction for comprehensive scope development, fee negotiations, project schedule and deliverable milestones development, technical and financial project management activities, client and stakeholder coordination, project implementation, and subcontractor administration
  • Identifying strategic teaming partners and actively building relationships, helping to identify and support staff resource and hiring needs
  • Providing active mentorship and oversight of junior level staff

Business Development

  • Helping to develop and build an energy/power practice that is well known and respected by clients and looked to for project completion and strategic advice

  • Positioning for and winning siting, due diligence, and planning/permitting work, including National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Environmental Impact Statements (EISs), either as part of a larger team or as the prime contractor

  • Developing new clients, identify project opportunities, lead proposal efforts, and capture new work, winning $1.5M in net revenue/year

What Are We Looking For?

Ideal candidates will have the following:

  • Proven ability to generate new business over their career and growing an energy/power practice in the environmental consulting field, with a focus on federal, state, and local clients
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree (preferred) in Civil Engineering (or equivalent), Sciences, or energy related field
  • 20+ years of experience, including 15+ years of relevant experience in planning/permitting, project management, operations/staff management, or sales with national clients.
  • Experience or strong relationships with the following agencies is preferred: U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Department of Fish and Wildlife, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, relevant state and local Water Boards, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, and the Office of Historic Preservation. ,
  • Proven experience in building partnership with local and state authorities
  • Self-motivation, drive, and ability to work collaboratively to maximize successful project outcomes

Base Level Benefits for Regular Full-Time Positions:
