Bjorn Traag

CSO at Andes

Bjorn Traag is the current CSO at Andes. Prior to that, they were the Product Owner of Agriculture at Zymergen from October 2019 to July 2021. Before Zymergen, they were the Program Director at Joyn Bio from May 2018 to October 2019 where they led a team of scientists working on synthetic biology solutions for sustainability in agriculture. From August 2013 to April 2018, Bjorn was the Microbiology Group Lead at Bayer Crop Science where they managed the operational and scientific activities of teams of microbiologists, molecular biologists, and bacterial geneticists. Bjorn has also held positions as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Harvard University from July 2008 to June 2013 and as a PhD Researcher at Leiden University from June 2003 to June 2008.

Bjorn Traag received a PhD in Molecular Genetics from Leiden University, an MSc in Chemistry from Leiden University, and a BSc in Biochemistry from Hogeschool Leiden.

Violeta Zorraquino - Senior Scientist, Paloma Rueda - Senior Scientist, and Bindia Gupta-Lad - Associate Scientist report to Bjorn Traag. They work with Sharon Nademanee - Director of Research, Tania Timmermann - CTO & Co-Founder, and Phil Weyman - Director of Research. Their manager is Gonzalo Fuenzalida, CEO & Co-Founder.
