AJ Renold has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles and industries. In 2008, they worked as a Business Intern at Sedia Systems. The following year, they joined Opportunity International as a Resource Development & YAO Intern, contributing to proposal and report writing for major donors and working on strategic planning and event planning for the Young Ambassadors for Opportunity program. In 2010, they interned at Opportunity Tanzania Limited before transitioning to a role as Business Development and Donor Relations Manager at Opportunity Tanzania in 2011.

In 2013, AJ Renold joined VMware as a Product Management Intern in Ecosystem Engineering before moving to the School of Information at UC Berkeley. At the School of Information, they served as a Teaching Assistant for two courses, namely, Distributed Computing Applications and Infrastructure in Fall 2013 and Working with Open Data in Spring 2014.

In 2014, AJ Renold joined Captricity, a software company. They held various roles at Captricity, starting as a Field Engineer in 2014 before becoming a Solution Architect later that year. In 2015, they transitioned to the role of Software Engineer before being promoted to Senior Software Engineer Technical Lead in 2017.

Most recently, AJ Renold joined Angaza in 2018 as a Software Engineer. They were then promoted to the position of Software Engineering Manager in November 2019.

AJ Renold has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Economics and International Business from Loyola University Chicago, which was acquired between 2005 and 2009. AJ furthered their education by pursuing a Master of Information Management and Systems degree (also known as MIMS) at UC Berkeley School of Information from 2012 to 2014.
