Phil Hong

Phil is a Senior Portfolio Analyst at Angel Oak Capital, focusing on researching and developing strategies in mortgage credit, including non-qualified mortgages (non-QM) and residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS).

Phil has over 10 years of experience in the mortgage credit space. Prior to joining Angel Oak in 2021, Phil was a publishing research analyst and desk strategist at Wells Fargo Securities, primarily covering non-agency RMBS. Prior to Wells Fargo, Phil was a quantitative analyst at BTG Pactual Asset Management, where he developed credit and prepayment models and assisted portfolio managers on a $1 billion non-agency RMBS portfolio.

Phil holds an M.S. degree in Computational Finance, and dual B.S. degrees in Computer Science and Mathematical Sciences, all from Carnegie Mellon University. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) designation.
