Animal Equality
Mónica Arias Brocal has had extensive experience in the field of animal behavior and welfare. Mónica currently works as a Corporate Outreach Coordinator at Animal Equality since November 2019. Prior to that, they were a Visiting Professor at UAB - Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, where they taught courses on Applied Ethology and Animal Welfare. In addition, Mónica has worked as a Specialist in the behavior of dogs and cats at various organizations, including Etologia Veterinaria Madrid, AFRI Comportamiento Animal, Guardería WagWag, and Veterinaria Ciudad. In this role, they focused on prevention, evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of behavior problems in pets, and conducted workshops and courses for professionals and families. Mónica's work experience demonstrates their dedication and expertise in the field of animal behavior and welfare.
Mónica Arias Brocal has a comprehensive education history in various fields. Mónica first pursued a Licenciatura en Psicología from Universidad Complutense de Madrid, specializing in Psicología clínica, which they completed from 1999 to 2004.
In 2005-2006, Mónica attended Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, where they obtained a Máster Etología aplicada with a focus on Veterinaria. This program allowed their to expand their knowledge in animal behavior.
Following their Master's degree, Mónica undertook a Certificado de Aptitud Pedagógica at Instituto de Ciencias de la Educación de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid from 2008 to 2009. This certification emphasized their interest in pedagogy.
Continuing their academic journey, Mónica pursued a Diploma de Estudios Avanzados (DEA) from Universidad Complutense de Madrid specializing in Comportamiento del lobo ibérico during 2009-2011. This program explored the behavior of the Iberian wolf.
Lastly, from 2014 to 2018, Mónica attended Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona once again to complete their Grado Doctor in Comportamiento animal. This doctoral degree allowed their to further deepen their understanding of animal behavior.
Through their diverse educational experiences, Mónica Arias Brocal has gained expertise in various fields, including animal behavior, clinical psychology, pedagogy, and veterinary studies.

Animal Equality is an international organization working with society, governments, and companies to end cruelty to farmed animals.Animal Equality was founded in 2006 by Sharon Núñez, Jose Valle, and Javier Moreno with one mission: to protect animals. Today, Animal Equality is one of the most effective advocates for farmed animals in the world,working on four continents on behalf of farmed animals. The organization carries out undercover investigations into factory farms and slaughterhouses and encourages businesses to implement meaningful policies that will significantly reduce the suffering of animals by ending some of the cruelest standard practices. Its legal advocacy and legislative work has resulted in historic convictions of workers for acts of cruelty and neglect committed against animals, and the closure of slaughterhouses, farms, and meat markets around the world.Animal Equality has a network of offices in eight countries: the United States, Mexico, Brazil, Germany, Italy, Spain, India, and the United Kingdom.
