Job description

Senior Product Manager

At AnitaB.org, we envision a future where the people who imagine and build technology mirror the people and societies for whom they build it. Our social enterprise supports women and non-binary technologists in technical fields, the organizations that employ them, and the academic institutions training the next generation. AnitaB.org is known for our Grace Hopper Celebration, and our various programs connecting, guiding and inspiring women and non-binary technologists.

As a Product Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the development, strategy, and success of products at AnitaB.org. You will serve as the bridge between various teams and your analytical mindset will be critical in interpreting market research, user feedback, and competitive intelligence to make informed decisions that enhance product features and user experience. By juggling these responsibilities, you’ll contribute to the creation of exceptional products that satisfy customer needs and align with AnitaB.org overall strategy, and drive bottom line growth.

Here's what you'll do

  • Define product's long-term vision, goals, and strategic direction for one or more products in our growing product portfolio.
  • Create and maintain a product roadmap that outlines the timeline and key milestones for the product's development.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including research, engineering, design, marketing, and sales to ensure alignment with the product's goals and priorities.
  • Define and prioritize features, enhancements, and bug fixes based on customer needs and business objectives.
  • Monitor key performance metrics, customer feedback, detailed market analysis, and data gathering to make decisions about product strategy.
  • Be recognized as the voice of the customer"; alongside our revenue department, invest significant time with current and potential customers to understand their needs & habits."
  • Engage in discovery/test & learn activities to quickly validate assumptions and product direction.
  • Decompose complex problems into smaller manageable tasks by creating and prioritizing a backlog for the Product Team.
  • Manage the product backlog, create an effective vision, and provide timely stakeholder feedback on development iterations.
  • Serve as the product owner / product team lead to drive Product Team meetings, go/no-go decisions, and the incorporation of business imperatives in every stage of product development efforts.
  • Communicate product updates, progress, and challenges to internal stakeholders and executives.
  • Identify potential risks and challenges related to product development and make informed decisions to mitigate those risks.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned, which means to be agile and rise to the challenge: in service to our mission, from time to time, we do ask team members to take on, or volunteer to take on, additional or different duties outside of their formal job description.

Here's what we hope you'll bring

  • Professionalism in team and external stakeholder interactions and communications, including honesty, integrity, respect, and commitment to advancing global, regional, and local DEI, in keeping with an organization with a mission to promote women and non-binary diversity, equity and inclusion in society and the workplace.
  • Competencies typically acquired through a Bachelor’s degree in a technology or business-related field.
  • 5 years of experience in a product management role.
  • Strong understanding of product management methodologies, Agile/Scrum, and/or SAFe product management principles.
  • Experience working in a technical environment with a broad, cross functional team to drive product vision, define product requirements, align resources from cross-functional groups (design, legal, etc.), and deliver key milestones.
  • Experience in delivering data migration, infrastructure implementation and innovation projects.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling (written & verbal) capabilities, both with technical and non-technical audiences; with strong ability to resolve misalignments and mitigate competing priorities.
  • Critical thinking skills that are proactive and employed to independently solve problems and overcome obstacles and ambiguity.
  • Advanced ability to communicate complex and innovative concepts to a new product development team with proven experience in data-driven decision making.
  • Experience with leveraging quantitative (e.g., metrics, analytics) and qualitative data (e.g., research, user feedback) to inform product prioritization and decision-making.
  • Ability to travel as position requires.
