Job description

We are seeking a dynamic, ambitious, and self-motivated US Government Programs Director to join our Business Development & Sales team. In this role, you will be responsible for spearheading Apex’s relationships with US Government customers and end-users, with a primary focus on Space Force customers. This role will be responsible for formulating and executing strategies to win direct US Government business. It will also support the business-to-business Sales team by driving shaping activities and relationship building with US Government end-users.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and nurture strong relationships with US Government program offices and other US Government stakeholders, with a focus on Space Force customers.
  • Deeply understand government customer priorities and needs in order to shape opportunities, win direct-to-government deals, and support business-to-business subcontract deals.
  • Build a pipeline of direct-to-government sales opportunities by proactively identifying and engaging with key government stakeholders.
  • Develop and execute strategies to capture complex direct-to-government sales opportunities.
  • Work with Apex’s Sales team to support business-to-business subcontract sales opportunities by driving government opportunity shaping and providing the “voice of the customer”.

Requirements:

  • U.S. Person status is required as this position needs to access export controlled data.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, aerospace, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in business development, capture, and/or program management, preferably with exposure to the space or spacecraft.
  • In-depth knowledge of the US government budgeting, requirements generation, acquisition processes.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills with the ability to effectively articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Direct experience in spacecraft or spacecraft-adjacent markets.
  • Prior experience in government acquisition.
  • Active TS or TS/SCI clearance.
