Tom Dignan

CTO at Apolitical

Tom Dignan has worked in the technology industry since 2000. Tom began their career at Excite@Home as a Senior Software Engineer, where they developed Java API for building wireless-web based applications for multiple device types. In 2001, they moved to Earthlink as an Engineering Manager, where they led a team that built backend distributed systems for Earthlink Web products. Tom then moved to Yahoo in 2004 as an Engineering Manager. In 2006, Tom joined Hands-On Mobile as the Vice President of Engineering, where they managed an international organization of nearly 100 engineers to build mobile games, applications, distributed systems, and application platforms. In 2009, Tom joined ReputationDefender as the Vice President of Engineering and was responsible for delivering new and frequent updates to the company's online reputation management suite of products. In 2010, they moved to Reputation.com as the Vice President of Engineering, Research, where they built a research team of computer and data scientists. In 2015, Tom joined ReputationDefender as the Principal Technology Advisor and CTO, and in 2017 they became the CTO of Syft, where they led all aspects of engineering and technology from Series A round to acquisition of the company. In 2020, Tom joined Apolitical as the CTO.

Tom Dignan has earned three degrees related to Physics. Tom obtained their B.S. from San Francisco State University, followed by an A.M. from Harvard University. Tom then completed their PhD from Harvard University in 1998.
