Kartik Perisetla is an experienced applied research scientist with a strong background in natural language processing and machine learning. Currently at Apple since December 2019, Kartik leads projects involving large language models (LLMs), text summarization, text generation, and document semantic understanding, particularly in enhancing Siri's capabilities. Previously, Kartik served as a Senior Applied Research Scientist at Microsoft from January 2016 to January 2020, focusing on language modeling and machine learning for Bing Search Engine and knowledge graphs. Kartik began the career as a research assistant at Carnegie Mellon University from January 2014 to January 2016, contributing to the Never Ending Language Learner project. Early experience includes roles as a software engineer at LinkedIn, where projects centered on search relevance and query understanding, and as an open-source contributor for One Laptop Per Child, developing machine learning algorithms. Kartik holds a Master of Science in Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning from Carnegie Mellon University.
