Auke Huistra

Auke Huistra has extensive experience in the field of OT security and risk management. Auke currently serves as the Managing Director for Applied Risk - Critical Infrastructure Made Secure, where they are responsible for business development, key accounts, delivery of major projects/programs, team management, and workforce development. Auke has been with Applied Risk since 2017.

Prior to their current role, Auke Huistra worked as the Founder and Owner of Suver Management & Consultancy since 2007. During this time, they also co-authored a report on the certification of cyber security skills for ICS/SCADA professionals.

From 2015 to 2017, Auke Huistra was the Business Director for Cyber Security & Resilience at TNO, where they were responsible for various projects focused on cyber threat intelligence, repositioning of the Ministry of Economic Affairs on Cyber Security, and business development for the roadmap Cyber Security & Resilience.

Before TNO, Auke Huistra served as the industry coordinator and member of the GICSP Executive Steering Committee, where they collaborated with leading industrial companies, ICS/SCADA suppliers, and security advisors to enhance industry IT/OT security competence and workforce development through the Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional (GICSP) certification program.

Auke Huistra also held various roles at Shell, including PCD IT Security Advisory & Assurance Lead, Delivery Lead Technical & Procedural Gap Assessments, Delivery Lead PCD IT Security Workforce Development, and Coordinator GICSP certification development. Auke'sresponsibilities at Shell included developing a workforce development framework for process control domain IT security and coordinating the collaborative development of the GICSP certification.

Auke Huistra's earlier experience includes working as the Lead of the Workforce Development workstream within the Thematic Area 'ICS and Smart Grids' at the Joint Research Center EC - European Reference Network for Critical Infrastructure Protection, Project Manager for the National Roadmap to Secure Process Control Systems at TNO/CPNI.NL, Co-author and Director Education & Training at ENCS, and Project Manager for Cybercrime Information Exchange at CPNI.NL.
