Al Cave is currently the Chief Operations Officer at Apprenti. Prior to this, they served as the Chief Compliance and Ethics Officer at Northern Trust Corporation from July 2005 to April 2017. In this role, they led Compliance and Ethics for the organization, which was repeatedly recognized as one of Fortune Magazine’s “World’s Most Admired Companies” and The Ethisphere Institute’s “World’s Most Ethical Companies.” Al also served as the Chair of Northern Trust’s Compliance and Ethics Oversight Committee and was a member of the Business Leadership Council, the 150 most senior members of the company.
Before joining Northern Trust Corporation, Al Cave was an attorney at Connelly Sheehan Harris from April 2004 to May 2005. In this role, they advised and represented management on a broad range of employment law issues and litigation. Prior to that, they served as the Vice President, Associate Relations at Stop & Shop from April 2002 to April 2004, and as the Vice President, Employment & Regulatory Law at Stop & Shop from January 1998 to December 2002. Al began their career as an Associate, Employment and Employee Benefits at Day, Berry & Howard LLP from January 1993 to December 1998.
Al Cave graduated from Duke University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. Al then attended Georgetown University Law Center, where they earned their Doctor of Law. Al Cave is also certified from Cornell University in Diversity & Inclusion and from HRCI in SHRM - Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP).
