Senior Research Associate I at Arcturus Therapeutics

Gustavo Villegas' work experience begins with a position as a Sales Associate at DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse in 2010. Following this, they worked as a Student Internship at Carbon Capture Corporation, where they gained experience in researching and harvesting microalgae for biofuels and chemicals. Gustavo then worked as a Laboratory Operations Assistant at Calibr at Scripps Research, where they were responsible for organizing laboratories, managing stock consumables, and supporting the EHS department. In 2015, Villegas joined the Salk Institute for Biological Studies as a Laboratory Technician, assisting with molecular biology-based experiments and next-generation sequencing approaches. Here, they collaborated with a research team on investigating phytohormone transcriptional responses in arabidopsis seedlings. In 2018, Villegas became a Research Associate at Synthetic Genomics, contributing to various projects, including the synthesis and assembly of target genes and the development of novel vaccine platform technologies. Gustavo then worked as a Research Associate II at Illumina, specializing in Clinical Genomics Assay Research and Development, where they conducted validation and verification FDA studies. Most recently, they held the position of Senior Research Associate I at Locanabio, Inc., where they continued their research responsibilities. In 2023, Villegas will join Arcturus Therapeutics as a Senior Research Associate I.

Gustavo Villegas has an education history that includes attending two institutions.
