Visiting Vehicle Integration Engineer at ARES Corporation

Diego Arias has a diverse and extensive work experience in the aerospace industry. Diego started their career in 1997 as an Ascent Flight Design Engineer in the Range Safety Technical Integration Group at United Space Alliance, where they performed calculations and analysis to ensure the safety of space vehicle disposals and determined destruct criteria. From 2000 to 2002, they served as an ISS Program Integration Assembly & Configuration Engineer, negotiating requirements and priorities and analyzing project issues. Diego then worked as a Mission Integration & Operations Cargo Integration & Processing Engineer, traveling to various locations to hand carry NASA cargo and develop cargo integration processes. In 2008, they joined Jamss America Inc as a Senior Engineer, providing technical support to JAXA in investigation and evaluation tasks. From 2016 to 2017, they worked at Orbital Sciences Corporation (now Orbital ATK) as a mission manager during berthed operations for several missions. Most recently, they joined ARES Corporation as a Visiting Vehicle Integration Engineer, providing engineering support for the development and integration of commercial visiting vehicles for the International Space Station (ISS) and supporting cross-program integration tasks with NASA's Commercial Crew Program (CCP).

Diego Arias holds a Master of Science (MS) degree in Aerospace Engineering (Space Operations) from the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs, which they obtained from 1998 to 2003. Prior to that, from 1994 to 1997, they completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical/Space Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin. Diego's education journey began at Austin College from 1990 to 1994, where they graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Interdisciplinary, specializing in Math/Physics.
