Patrick Murphy

Patrick Murphy joined the Arizona Coyotes as President of Business Operations, Strategy & Development with the Coyotes. He now is the Chief of Staff, Hockey and Facility Operations overseeing all hockey-related issues, alumni relations, and relocation campaigns.

Murphy joined the Coyotes after spending 30 years in administrative roles at Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California. He most recently served as the school's President from 2002 to 2020 and previously held positions of Principal and Assistant Principal at Mater Dei.

Murphy served as Director of Athletics & Physical Education at La Jolla Country Day School from 1989 to 1990. He also spent five years as Assistant Principal & Athletic Director at the University of San Diego High School.

In addition to his administrative roles, Murphy has coached basketball at the college, high school, and club levels including as the Assistant Men's Basketball Coach at San Diego State University (1982-84), the Varsity Boys' Assistant Basketball Coach at Mater Dei High School (1991-94), the Head Boys' Basketball Coach at USD High School (1985-89), the Head Boys' Basketball Coach at St. Thomas More High School (1978-81) and the Head Girls' Basketball Coach at St. Angela Academy (1976-78). He also served as President and Head Coach of the Irvine Sol Basketball Club from 2004 to 2010.

Murphy graduated Summa Cum Laude with his Master's Degree in Technology in Athletics and Education from San Diego State University. He obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Education from Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, B.C., Canada.

Murphy has been involved in a variety of professional and charitable organizations including the National Catholic Education Association, National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association, National Association of Basketball Coaches, Santa Ana Chamber of Commerce, Business Vitality Council, California Interscholastic Federation Council, Boys Hope/Girls Hope Education Program Committee, Catholic Education Trust of Orange Executive Committee, Diocese of Orange Catholic Schools Task Force, Diocese of Orange, Catholic Schools Sustainability Leadership Work Group, Marian Alliance Schools Sustainability Foundation and the CIF-Southern Section Private School Leadership Committee, Chair.
