Brandon Bedford

Brandon Bedford is currently the Assistant Director of Business Intelligence at Arlington Economic Development. Prior to this, Brandon worked as the Research & Policy Manager at Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation from May 2018 to August 2021. There, they were responsible for collecting and analyzing data on demographic, economic, and housing trends to assess the County’s progress toward the goals and objectives of its 1964 general plan and its 1969 and 1993 general plan amendments. Brandon also developed quantitative indicators to assess the County’s progress toward qualitative planning policy goals. Brandon conducted analysis of peer jurisdictions’ comprehensive/general plan assessment and amendment protocol—as well as national best practices—to inform the County’s plan amendment process.

Prior to working at Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation, Brandon worked as a Planning Research Associate at Montgomery County Planning Department from August 2017 to May 2018. There, they were responsible for conducting research on a variety of planning topics and assisting with the preparation of reports, presentations, and grant applications.

Before working in Montgomery County, Brandon was a Policy, Planning, and Innovation Specialist for an independent policy and planning contractor from May 2015 to July 2017. In this role, they provided policy analysis and research support on a variety of topics related to innovation and economic development.

Brandon began their career in public service as an Innovation Specialist in Innovation Program in the Office of the County Executive of Montgomery County from May 2015 to February 2017. In this role, they managed the county’s innovation portfolio, developed and implemented new programs, and coordinated collaboration among county agencies.

Brandon Bedford has a Master's degree in Public Policy from the University of Maryland, a BA in Environmental Studies from Emory University, and a certificate in Tropical Ecology, Marine Ecosystems, and Biodiversity Conservation from the School for International Training Panamá. Brandon also has a certificate in Introductory Mandarin Language and Brandon'story of Qing Dynasty from Beijing Normal University.

They work with Troy Palma - Regional Economist, Conor Courtney - Strategic Initiatives Manager, and Sindy Yeh - Senior Business Ambassador. Brandon Bedford reports to Michael Stiefvater, Acting Director, Business Investment Group.
