Helen Chowaniec

Helen Chowaniec (Gerardi) has a diverse work experience in various scientific research and leadership roles. Helen started their career as a Summer Undergraduate Research Assistant at Princeton University, followed by a position as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Stony Brook University. During this time, they focused on projects related to the synthesis and characterization of materials for increased photocatalytic activity and the study of magnetization properties.

After completing their undergraduate studies, Helen joined Yale University as a Graduate Research Assistant. Helen'sresponsibilities involved characterizing chemical reaction intermediates and working with infrared photofragmentation spectroscopy. Helen also gained experience in maintaining and modifying analytical instruments, developing electronic circuits, and teaching undergraduate chemistry courses.

Helen then moved on to the Naval Research Laboratory as an NRC Postdoctoral Fellow, where they continued their research in chemical reactions. Helen joined Ashland as a Staff Scientist and later progressed to the role of Senior Staff Scientist. Helen'swork at Ashland included managing analytical laboratories, coordinating manufacturing and technical support, and leading root cause analysis projects.

In their most recent position at Ashland, Helen served as a Senior Analytical Team Lead & Research Scientist, where they managed an international team and was responsible for laboratory operations. Helen also oversaw the NMR laboratory at the Bridgewater R&D site.

Throughout their career, Helen has consistently demonstrated strong analytical and leadership skills, as well as a commitment to scientific research and development.

Helen Chowaniec (Gerardi) obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, cum laude, from Stony Brook University from 2003 to 2007. Helen then pursued a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry at Yale University from 2007 to 2012.
