Gregory Schmid has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. Gregory began their career in 1988 as a Chemical Decontamination Platoon Leader and Motor Officer in the United States Army Reserve. Gregory applied their supervisory skills and military tactics during training and combat exercises, leading a team of approximately 30 Soldiers during Operation Desert Shield/Storm.

Schmid then transitioned to the corporate world, working as a Staff Engineer and later Manager of Information Systems at Preco Turbine and Compressor Services/GE Preco from 1990 to 2003. In this role, they were responsible for maintaining the health of desktop computers, servers, and network hardware, as well as managing hardware and software installations and updates.

In 2004, Schmid joined GE Energy as an IT Leader and Project Manager. Gregory led a project team through the requirements gathering, analysis, and approval phases of a laboratory information management system. Gregory also developed and implemented cost reduction strategies and made decisions to improve network performance.

Returning to their military career, Schmid served in the United States Army Reserve again from 2004 to 2015. During this time, they held various leadership roles, including Battalion S3/Operations Officer and Battalion S4/Logistics Officer. Gregory was responsible for managing training programs and exercises for four subordinate units, developing standard operating procedures, and implementing a system for tracking personnel.

In 2009, Schmid also had a role with USARCENT, US Army, where they served as an RSO Training Officer and later as the Readiness Exercise Branch Chief. In these positions, they coordinated and ensured the quality of Reception, Staging, and Onward Movement training in Afghanistan and supervised the planning and execution of multiple ARCENT exercises.

From 2016 to 2022, Schmid served in the Texas State Guard, holding positions such as OIC of Professional Military Education, Military District Coordinator, Battalion Commander, and Battalion Operations Officer/Executive Officer/Interim Commander. The roles involved various responsibilities, including coordinating military education, commanding units, and overseeing battalion operations.

Most recently, Schmid worked at ASM Global as a Security Supervisor and then as a Security Manager, starting in 2019. Gregory utilized their skills and experience in security management to ensure the safety and well-being of personnel and assets.
