Ron Nixon

Ron Nixon is a seasoned journalist and current Director of the Associated Press Local Investigative Reporting Program, focused on enhancing investigative reporting across local outlets. Nixon has held various significant roles at the Associated Press, including Vice President of News and Head of Investigations and Global Investigations Editor, overseeing a diverse team of journalists worldwide. Academic contributions include a position as a Visiting Associate for Journalism and Media Studies at the University of the Witwatersrand. Previous experience encompasses work at The New York Times as a Washington Correspondent and Adjunct Professor at Howard University. Nixon's early career involved positions at the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Investigative Reporters and Editors, and Southern Exposure Magazine, in addition to military service in the United States Marine Corps.
