Heather McDonald

Heather McDonald, PhD, currently serves as the Vice President of Market Access at AstraZeneca since July 2023 and also holds a board member position at the Canadian Pharmaceutical Distribution Network. Previously, from September 2006 to July 2023, Heather led Bayer Pharmaceuticals as the Vice President and Global Head of Market Access for Cell and Gene Therapies and Digital Health, where responsibilities included shaping Market Access vision for innovative treatments. Additional roles at Bayer included VP, Global Head of Pricing Innovation, and VP & Head of Market Access and Government Affairs, contributing to significant patient access achievements. Earlier career experiences include positions at AXON Clinical Research, Innovus Research, Boehringer Ingelheim, and AstraZeneca. Academic qualifications include a PhD in Health Economics/Policy, an MSc in Health Research Methodology, and a BSc in Biology and Pharmacology, all from McMaster University.
