Nicolas Steiner

Head Of Engineering at Astrocast

Nicolas Steiner has a diverse work experience spanning over multiple companies and roles. Nicolas started their career as an Electrical field technician at BOBST in 2003. Nicolas then worked at EPFL as an Electrical system engineer where they were responsible for the design, manufacturing, and testing of the electrical subsystem. Nicolas also participated in the integration of SwissCube Qualification and Flight models and performed qualification and acceptance test campaigns.

Later, Nicolas joined RUAG Space AB in 2009 as an Electrical R&D Engineer. In this role, they conducted research and development projects for the manufacturing of electrical rotary joints. Nicolas also provided technical expertise on various ESA projects and developed automated test benches for measurement purposes. Nicolas was eventually promoted to the position of Product Manager, where they managed product development and technology development for new and existing application fields. Additionally, they provided technical support to the sales department for business development.

Currently, Nicolas is working at Astrocast as the Head of Space Segment. Here, they manage Astrocast's Space Segment, which includes designing, manufacturing, integrating, assembling, and testing their own platform of nanosatellites. Nicolas is also responsible for launch management and launch campaigns. Prior to this role, they were also the Head of Space Segment at Astrocast, where they coordinated interfaces between all subsystems of the satellites and designed the Electrical Power System of the satellites, as well as oversaw their manufacturing, assembly, integration, and testing.

Nicolas Steiner attended the University of Applied Sciences of Western Switzerland (Heig-vd) from 2004 to 2008, where they obtained a degree in HES in the field of Electrical Sciences. Prior to that, from 1999 to 2003, they studied at Bobst SA + CPNV, where they earned a CFC (Certificate of Federal Capacity) + Maturité technique intégrée in the field of Automaticien.
