Deepa Nambiar has a diverse background in the field of human rights and refugee advocacy. Deepa has experience working with organizations such as Asylum Access and the International Detention Coalition. At Asylum Access, they served as the Director of Partnerships, leading the organization's efforts to build and strengthen partnerships that promote the rights of refugees. Deepa has also held the role of Strategic Planning Consultant, where they facilitated the development of strategic plans across various national operations. Prior to their work at Asylum Access, Deepa served as the Asia Pacific Regional Coordinator for the International Detention Coalition. Deepa has also worked as a Protection Associate for UNHCR, conducting Refugee Status Determination. In addition, Deepa has gained experience in international law and human rights through internships at the United Nations and Human Rights Watch. Throughout their career, they have demonstrated a commitment to advocating for the rights of refugees and marginalized communities.
Deepa Nambiar completed their Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) at the University of London from 2004 to 2007. From 2007 to 2008, they pursued the Bar Vocational Course (Lincoln's Inn) at City, University of London. Later, in 2012 to 2013, they attended Columbia Law School to obtain a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree in International Law.
