Tyan-Shu Jou

Sr. Director of Engineering at Ataya

Tyan-Shu Jou has extensive work experience in the technology industry. Starting in 1998, they worked at Ericsson IPI, where they held various roles such as Senior Engineer, Principle Engineer, Manager, and System Architect. Tyan-Shu was involved in the development of AXI 540, a carrier-class provider-edge IP router, and managed projects related to DiffServ/QoS, MPLS, VPN, and service creation.

In 2003, Jou co-founded Janusys Networks and served as Chief Architect. Tyan-Shu then moved on to Accton as Director of Advanced Technology, where they were responsible for responding to requirements, planning, and partnership development for various technologies such as WiFi, security switches, and WiMAX devices.

From 2005 to 2006, they were a co-founder and engineer at AireSpider Networks, which was later acquired by Ruckus Wireless. There, they architectured and developed a WiFi access controller and access points targeting the SMB market.

In 2007, Jou joined Ruckus Wireless as the Senior Director of Embedded Software Development. Tyan-Shu played a significant role in bringing enterprise solutions to Ruckus and was in charge of engineering critical products, including WiFi access points, wireless controllers, and network management systems.

Following the acquisition of Ruckus Wireless by Brocade in 2016, Jou became the Senior Director of Software Development at Brocade. Tyan-Shu managed a fast-feature-development team and established remote engineering sites to address urgent requirements for WiFi controllers and access points.

Jou then moved on to ARRIS in 2017, where they served as the Senior Director of Software Development for the Enterprise Business Unit. Tyan-Shu worked on Cloud WiFi development and managed multiple WiFi networking products.

In 2019, CommScope acquired ARRIS, and Jou continued their role as the Senior Director of Software Engineering at Ruckus Networks, a business unit of CommScope. Tyan-Shu led a team in developing SaaS Cloud solutions for network management and was responsible for engineering WiFi controllers and network management systems.

In 2021, Jou joined Tarana Wireless, Inc. as the Senior Director of Software Engineering, where they oversaw software engineering projects until 2023.

Most recently, in 2023, Jou became the Senior Director of Engineering at Ataya, where they currently hold a leadership role.

Tyan-Shu Jou completed their high school education at TsaiHsing High School from 1975 to 1981, earning a High School Diploma. Tyan-Shu then pursued a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Information Science at National Chiao Tung University, graduating in 1985. Later on, from 1989 to 1993, Tyan-Shu Jou attended Michigan State University, where they obtained a Ph.D. in Computer Science.
