Lucas Hoffmann has a diverse work experience in the field of biomedical engineering and systems engineering. Lucas has worked in various roles at different companies, including Alphatec Spine, Accelus, Stryker, Duke University, Gramercy Group Inc, University of Miami, Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity, NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases, and Mayback & Hoffman, P.A.

At Accelus, Lucas served as a System Engineer, leading the design, development, and release of production-grade software for a novel spinal fusion system software application. Lucas also developed and executed verification and validation protocols, as well as utilized navigation and robotics fundamentals to enhance the overall platform.

During their time at Stryker, Lucas held the positions of Senior System Engineer and Engineer. Lucas was responsible for designing, documenting, and integrating system architecture and behavior for surgical applications. Lucas also played a key role in the technical and clinical design decisions for the Bone Preparation feature, collaborating with surgeons and creating requirements and design descriptions.

Lucas gained research experience during their Masters program at Duke University and worked as a Robotic System Design Intern at Stryker. Lucas also had an internship at NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases, where they conceptualized and designed a test rig to measure knee balancing and engineered 3D printed model total knee surgery components.

Additionally, Lucas has experience in project estimation as a Project Estimation Intern at Gramercy Group Inc. Lucas was also involved in leadership roles, serving as the President of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity and receiving recognition for their accomplishments.

Before starting their professional career, Lucas worked as an intern at Mayback & Hoffman, P.A., where they supported the Intellectual Property efforts of a start-up company, analyzing patent applications and prior art patent documents.

Lucas Hoffmann completed their Master of Engineering (MEng) degree in Biomedical/Medical Engineering from Duke University in the years 2018 to 2019. Before that, they obtained their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biomedical/Medical Engineering from the University of Miami from 2014 to 2018. In addition to their formal education, Lucas also holds certifications in SolidWorks Essentials from TriMech, which they obtained in July 2022, and Fusion 360 Certified Student User from Autodesk, which they achieved in February 2018.
