Melanie Watson

Melanie Watson has a diverse range of work experience. Melanie is currently working as a Content Marketing Manager at the Atlanta History Center, a position they have held since April 2021. Prior to this, they worked as a Communications Manager at Discover Dunwoody from February 2016 to March 2021, where they assisted with marketing plans, digital media marketing, and print advertising.

Melanie also has experience in social media coordination, having worked as a Social Media Coordinator at Black & Sexy TV from October 2013 to April 2017. In this role, they generated social media ideas, created original content, and designed graphics to engage fans.

Melanie worked as a writer at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution from September 2014 to June 2015, where they interviewed various individuals in the Atlanta area and produced short written pieces on different subjects.

Melanie also has experience in journalism, having served as a Student Journalist at Grady Sports Media from August 2013 to May 2015. Melanie covered various sports events, conducted interviews, and wrote a variety of articles.

In addition, they worked as a Sports Editor and Sports Writer at InfUSion Magazine from January 2011 to May 2015. Melanie searched for story ideas, conducted interviews, led a sports section, and edited stories.

Melanie co-founded ATL Hawks Fans in April 2011, a fan site focused on the Atlanta Hawks basketball team. Melanie created content including exclusive interviews with players and covered the team from a positive fan perspective. Melanie held this position until June 2013.

Furthermore, they were actively involved in The National Association of Black Journalists at the University of Georgia. Melanie served as President from April 2012 to April 2013 and Secretary from April 2011 to April 2012. As President, they presided over the executive board, helped plan events, and delegated tasks among board members. As Secretary, they rebuilt the organization's website, communicated with members, and created newsletters.

Melanie Watson pursued their education between 2010 and 2015 at The University of Georgia, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Communication Studies. This marks their formal educational background in higher education.
