Steve Gerstein is the Director of Software Development at ATLAS Space Operations. Prior to joining ATLAS, Steve was the Manager of Operations Development at OneWeb, where they created and executed a strategy to repurpose onboard fault-detection software as event triggers to perform stored sequences without ground intervention, resulting in reduced return-to-service time by a factor of 10x. As the chair of the Change Control Board, Steve sustained a culture of Continuous Integration/Continuous Development to satisfy shifting requirements within a high-stakes environment.
Before joining OneWeb, Steve was the Senior Real-Time Operations Systems Engineer at Iridium, where they were responsible for Launch and Early Orbit Phase (LEOP) during the launch of Iridium NEXT. Steve also architected PERL software applications to command and control the mixed constellation of Block1 and NEXT satellites.
Steve began their career as a Senior Real-Time Operations System Engineer at Boeing, where they worked for over 9 years before moving to OneWeb.
Steve Gerstein has a Master of Science in Systems Engineering & Architecting from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Maryland.
