Head of People Research & Analytics at Atlassian

Blaine Ames is the Head of People Research & Analytics at Atlassian. Prior to joining Atlassian, they were the Talent Analytics and Planning Lead at CSAA Insurance Group from October 2012 to June 2016. Before that, they were the AVP, Global Talent Analytics at Barclays from August 2010 to October 2012.

At Barclays, Blaine led a team of IT, MIS, and HR professionals across Barclays’ global offices to develop a reporting and analytics platform in Business Objects to reduce HR Business Partners’ workload and improve decision-making capabilities related to performance management. As a result of their efforts, the workload for HR Business Partners was reduced by 500 hours annually, and satisfaction with the reporting environment’s ease-of-use and functionality increased by 73%.

In addition, Blaine integrated recruiting, performance, and exit data to evaluate the employee lifecycle for the Global People Committee. This led to recommendations for improved recruiting practices that could save approximately £1.4 million and a redesign of the performance management process.

Finally, Blaine provided key driver analysis and insights to help focus employee development and action planning through the Employee Opinion Survey. The 2011 results suggested a 10% increase in engagement across the firm.

Blaine Ames has a BSc in Cognitive Science from the University of California, Berkeley and an MA in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from New York University. Blaine also has certification from Coursera in Getting and Cleaning Data and R Programming, as well as from the Human Capital Institute in Strategic Workforce Planning.
