Jingyu G. has worked in the field of genetics since 2006, when they began their PhD studies at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. During this time, they focused on analyzing genetic and genotype-phenotype interactions quantitatively in yeast models of human disease. They also developed skills in computer programming. From 2013 to 2015, Jingyu G. worked as a Scientific Curator at Lifecode (formerly Silicon Valley Biosystems). In this role, they analyzed WES/NGS data or gene panel data to identify potential variants with clinical significance or relevance, built a knowledge dataset to describe the biological and clinical relevance of human genes from public databases, and curated cancer drug response datasets on COSMIC variant sets. Since 2018, Jingyu G. has been working as a Data Scientist at Auransa Inc.
Jingyu G. began their educational journey in 1999 when they obtained their MS and BS in Life Sciences from Sichuan University. Jingyu then pursued a Ph.D. in Genetics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham from 2006 to 2012. In 2014, they enrolled in Johns Hopkins Engineering for Professionals to study Computer Sciences. Finally, they obtained a Master's degree in Computer Sciences with Machine Learning specialization from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2017.
