Paolo Menaspà has extensive work experience in the field of sports science and coaching. Paolo is currently serving as the Chief Science Officer at the Australian Sports Commission since June 2021. Prior to this, they held various roles at Edith Cowan University, including Adjunct Senior Lecturer, Lecturer, and Postdoctoral Research Fellow from 2015 to 2023. Paolo also worked as the Head of Performance Solutions at AusCycling from 2018 to 2021, and as the Performance Manager and Coach at Team BikeExchange (GreenEDGE Cycling) from 2012 to 2018. Paolo has also contributed to the field of sports science through their roles at Cycling Australia and the Australian Institute of Sport, where they served as a Senior Sport Scientist, Sport Scientist, and PhD Scholar in Sports Science. Additionally, they worked at Sport Service Mapei as a Quality System Manager and Sport Scientist and Coach, conducting physiological evaluations in various sports. Earlier in their career, Paolo worked as an Assistant Coach at federazione ciclistica italiana.
Paolo Menaspà holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Sports Science, which they obtained from Edith Cowan University during the period of 2011 to 2015. Prior to that, they completed a Laurea Magistrale degree in Scienze Motorie from Università degli Studi di Milano from 2001 to 2004. Their educational journey started with a Diploma Superiore in Chemistry & Biology from ITC Torno, which they obtained from 1995 to 1999. In addition to their degrees, Paolo Menaspà has achieved certifications including an Accredited High Performance Manager (AHPM) from Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA) in 2020 and an Accredited Sports Scientist Level 2 (ASpS2) from ESSA in 2018.
