Mike Bareja

Mike Bareja has extensive work experience spanning over 18 years in various sectors. Most recently, they held the position of Deputy Director - Cyber, Technology and Security at the Australian Strategic Policy Institute. Prior to this role, they served as a Technical Director and Strategy Service Line Lead at Downer Professional Services, where they also held the position of Senior Manager - National Security. Before that, Mike worked as a Program Director at AustCyber, Program Manager at the Australian Cyber Security Growth Network Ltd, and Director at the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Mike also held positions at the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, Attorney-General's Department, Australian Signals Directorate, Defence Australia, Australian Department of Health, and Australian Institute of Health and Welfare. Mike has gained expertise in areas such as cyber security, national security, counter-terrorism, and data analysis.

Mike Bareja has a Master of International Affairs (with Distinction) from The Australian National University and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from The Australian National University. Mike has also completed a Cyber Adversary Tradecraft program at UNSW and an Executive Level 2 Program in National Security at The Australian National University. Additionally, Mike has completed a course in Leading for Strategic Success at Melbourne Business School and Managing Complexity in Public Policy at The Australian National University. Mike holds MSP® Certifications from PeopleCert, which they obtained in April 2023.
