Rebecca Shrimpton

Rebecca Shrimpton has a solid and extensive work experience in the defense, strategy, and national security sector. Rebecca is currently working as the Director of Defence, Strategy, and National Security at the Australian Strategic Policy Institute since April 2023. Prior to that, they served as the Director of The Sydney Dialogue from June 2022 to April 2023.

Before joining the Australian Strategic Policy Institute, Rebecca held various roles at different organizations. Rebecca worked as the Head of Defence, Space, and Infrastructure at the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) from January 2021 to June 2022.

From July 2019 to January 2021, they served as a Senior Adviser Major Powers at the Office of the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Women. Prior to that, they worked as a Director at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade from August 2018 to January 2021.

Rebecca also gained international experience during their tenure as the Counsellor Defence Strategic Policy at the Embassy of Australia in Washington DC, USA, from September 2015 to January 2021.

Rebecca'scareer began at the Department of Defence of Australia in February 2001, where they served as an officer until January 2021.

Rebecca Shrimpton completed their Masters of Strategic Studies from The Australian National University in 2007. Additionally, they attended the Australian Defence College for an unspecified duration and did not pursue a specific degree or field of study.
