Nicholas Baker

Nicholas Baker is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in trade and investment promotion, currently serving as the Senior Trade and Investment Commissioner/Minister Counsellor (Commercial) at the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) since 2018. Based in Mexico City, Nicholas oversees operations covering Mexico, Central America, and The Caribbean, alongside managing Austrade's post in the Australian Embassy and co-leading the Resources & Energy team for the Americas. Prior roles include Senior Adviser - International Education at Austrade, where Nicholas enhanced Australia's reputation as a premier education destination, and Trade Manager - Resources & Energy, managing a network of advisers and liaising with key stakeholders across various sectors. Nicholas holds a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Technology Sydney, a Master of Arts from the University of Sydney, and a Bachelor of Arts from UNSW, complemented by a certificate in International Business from Harvard Business School.
