Aircraft Operator Security Coordinator/ Head of Security at Avelo Airlines

Jose Requena has over 20 years of experience in the aviation industry. Jose began their career in 1997 as a Crew Chief in the United States Air Force. In 2001, they became a Lead Flight Attendant and Instructor for CPR/AED/IOE Coach at JetBlue Airways. In 2003, they were promoted to Corporate Security Officer International at JetBlue Airways, where they were responsible for a full investigative range including computer fraud, falsifying business records, misappropriation of funds, credit card fraud, sexual harassment, and assault. In 2008, they became Station Manager and Director of Security at Pan American World Airways Dominicana, where they were responsible for maintaining Secure Flight (AQQ) Program and security compliance airline wide throughout the network. In 2011, they became Station Manager at Air Transport International, where they launched service from Aguadila to Madrid and Barcelona, managed certificaction of APIS (AQQ) transmissions, and received recognition for successfully maintaining ontime performance above 90%. In the same year, they also became Senior Regional Corporate Security at United Airlines. In 2015, they became Project Manager at Allied Barton Security Services, where they managed a staff of 150 Security Officers responsible for the security of Orlando International Airport. In 2016, they were promoted to Regional Security Manager at Delta Air Lines, where they managed Security Compliance for 26 airports in the Mid-Atlantic, Florida and Caribbean region, managed Security Investigations within their region, and conducted security assessments. In 2019, they became an Aviation Security Consultant at AvSeg. In 2021, they were appointed Aircraft Operator Security Coordinator (AOSC) and Head of Security at Avelo Airlines, where they established exact procedures for compliance with 49 CFR 1500 Series and TSA Aircraft Operator Standard Security Program (AOSSP), and Private Charter Standard Security Program (PCSSP). Jose is experienced in managing crisis at national and local level, responding to security incidents, threats, violations, and potential violations, and adapting to ever changing priorities.

Jose Requena holds an Associate of Science (A.S.) in Aeronautics/Aviation/Aerospace Science and Technology, General from the Community College of the Air Force. Jose also holds a Lean Six Sigma White Belt Certification (LSSWB) from the Management and Strategy Institute, obtained in April 2019, and a Project Management Essentials Certified (PMEC) from the Managment and Strategy Institute, obtained in April 2019. Additionally, they hold an Airport Certified Employee (ACE) Secur from AAAE, obtained in November 2015.
