Russ Berland

Russ Berland is the Chief Compliance Officer at Aventiv Technologies. Russ has been with the company since October 2019, and in their current role since August 2021. Prior to their current role, they served as the Chief Integrity & Risk Officer for Aventiv Technologies.

In their role as Chief Integrity & Risk Officer, Russ was responsible for leading the compliance and integrity program for the company, which included creating a system to track all Helpline and other ethics-related concerns, overseeing dozens of ethics-related investigations and leading the senior management Standards of Business Conduct committee. Russ also established the company Helpline, created Standards of Business Conduct policy and training, Gifts & Entertainment policy and training, Conflicts of Interest policy and training, and Fraud Policy and Anti-Fraud training. In addition, Russ managed a team of six remote professionals and was responsible for the creation of Privacy notices and policies for the parent company and all subsidiaries, as well as the establishment of the Conflict of Interest and Fraud disclosure process.

Russ also played a key role in establishing the Enterprise Risk Management system for the company, actively managing over 60 risks that had the potential to affect the enterprise. Russ also ran the Privacy Program and responded to a large number of Individual Rights Management requests. Furthermore, they created and led both the senior management-level Governance and Risk Committee, which provided governance over compliance, risk and privacy issues, as well as the COVID response for the entire company. Russ Berland holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from The University of Kansas and a Doctor of Law (JD) from the University of Kansas School of Law. Russ is certified as a Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Certified Sustainability Professional and as an IAPP - International Association of Privacy Professionals Certified Information Privacy Professional - United States (CIPP/US). Russ is also a member of the Missouri Supreme Court Bar and the Kansas Supreme Court Bar.
