Bret Kilbourn

Bret Kilbourn has over 25 years of work experience, starting with their role as a Senior Underwriter at AIG from 1992 to 1994. Bret then worked at Merck as a Senior Analyst in Benefits Planning from 1996 to 1997, followed by a promotion to Manager in International Treasury Services, where they managed capital structure and financing activities for subsidiaries worldwide until 2000.

In 2000, Bret joined Kemper as an Underwriting Manager in the Financial Insurance Solutions division. Bret underwrote various insurance policies and developed a strategic marketing plan for the Philadelphia, New Jersey, and Baltimore regions. Bret later moved to AXIS Capital in 2003, serving as an Assistant Vice President in Financial Insurance Solutions. In this role, they managed a team and oversaw the transfer of the Kemper book of business.

At AXIS Capital, Bret held several senior leadership positions. From 2004 to 2007, they were a Senior Vice President in Financial Insurance Solutions, where they managed an $80-$100 million book of business and a team of eight. Bret offered various products, such as D&O, BPL, Insurance Company Professional Liability, and more.

Later, Bret became the Senior Vice President in Financial Insurance Solutions at AXIS (AXIS Capital), managing a $20 million book of commercial business and a team of three. Bret marketed Axis FIS products across multiple Southeastern cities and achieved a GWP growth of 43% over a four-year period.

Bret Kilbourn completed their MBA from Cornell Johnson Graduate School of Management between 1994 and 1996. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in German/International Relations from Colgate University from 1985 to 1989.
