Syed Abbas Shah

Syed Abbas Shah has a diverse work experience spanning over 15 years. Syed Abbas is currently working at AXIS (AXIS Capital) as a Software Quality Assurance Team Lead since October 2021. Prior to this role, they served as a Senior Quality Assurance Tester at the same company from June 2020 to October 2021.

Before joining AXIS, Syed worked at Swept Janitorial Software as a Quality Assurance Analyst from June 2018 to May 2020. Here, they conducted integration and regression testing on web and mobile apps and created test cases using Gherkin language.

From April 2017 to June 2018, they worked at IBM as a Test Specialist-Cloud Applications. Syed Abbas performed functional, regression, and accessibility tests on the Parks Canada mobile application and conducted load testing via LoadUI.

At BF&M Insurance Group, Syed served as a Quality Assurance Analyst from January 2015 to April 2017. Syed Abbas absorbed and learned the fast-developing application, created and ran test cases using HP Quality Center, and prepared detailed documentation.

Earlier in their career, Syed worked at Xerox as a Systems Development Specialist from March 2013 to January 2015 and at NTT Data Corporation as a Consultant from October 2009 to March 2013. At NTT Data, they were involved in various QA activities such as developing test plans, test cases, and test scenarios, performing manual and automated testing, coordinating defect management, and participating in Root Cause Analysis. Syed Abbas also created a 'QA Estimation tool' to streamline estimation processes.

Syed started their professional journey as a student at Dalhousie University from September 2006 to October 2009.

Syed Abbas Shah obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Computer Science from the University of Peshawar, where they studied from 2001 to 2005. Syed Abbas then pursued a Master of Applied Science (M.A.Sc.) degree in Electrical & Computer Engineering from Dalhousie University from 2006 to 2009. Additionally, they have obtained certifications such as "A Toolkit for Giving and Receiving Better Feedback" from LinkedIn in 2021, "Certified Tester, Foundation Level Agile Extension (CTFL-AT)" from the Canadian Software Testing Board (CSTB) in 2017, and "Certified Tester, Foundation Level (CTFL)" from the ISTQB - International Software Testing Qualifications Board in 2011.
