Laboratory Operations Manager at Axol Bioscience

Tahira Anwar, PhD has a varied and extensive work experience. Tahira began their career in 2006 as a Master Student at Sapienza Università di Roma, where they worked in the laboratory of Professor Matteo Antonio Russo at the Department of Experimental Medicine and Pathology. Her Master thesis project was "Autophagy as a defence mechanism to hypoxia in tumor cells". In 2012, they completed an international research visit at the University of Tartu in the laboratory of Professor Allen Kaasik, studying mitochondria dynamics by performing live cell imaging experiments. In 2009, they obtained their PhD in Biochemistry in the laboratory of Eeva-Liisa Eskelinen at the Molecular and Integrative Biosciences Research Programme (MIBS) of the Faculty of Biological and Environmental Sciences. Her PhD project was "The role of Beclin 1 localization in autophagosome biogenesis". Tahira also volunteered as the Technical Responsible for an imaging system located in their campus, and taught practical courses in cell culturing, cell and molecular biology techniques. In 2021, they became the Laboratory Manager at Mestag Therapeutics, and in 2022 they were appointed as the Laboratory Operations Manager at Axol Bioscience Ltd.

Tahira Anwar completed their education history with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biochemistry from the University of Helsinki in 2019. Prior to that, they obtained their Master of Science (MS) in Biological Sciences from Sapienza Università di Roma in 2008. Tahira also attended Liceo scientifico Camillo Cavour from 1997 to 2002.
