Zach Scott

Zach Scott has a long and varied work experience. Zach began their career in 2014 as a Mad Inventor and Carny Intern at Two Bit Circus, where they designed and fabricated a solo project for the STEAM Carnival. From 2014 to 2015, they were a Propulsion Design Intern at SpaceX, where they owned the design and development of parts for the Merlin 1D liquid fueled engine. In 2016, they were a Design + Manufacturing Engineer at Pixsweet, where they led day-to-day production and engineering. From 2017 to 2020, they worked at Formlabs as a Design Engineer and then Design Engineer II, leading sustaining engineering efforts on the Form 3 mechanical team. Currently, they are employed at Apple as a Product Design Engineer, where they own modules on unannounced products and is responsible for part design, DFM/A analysis, reliability testing and overall system performance. In 2022, they joined Backbone as a Product Design Lead and Senior Design Engineer, founding the Backbone PD team as the second HW hire and leading design, quality and project management across multiple hardware programs.

Zach Scott attended Harvard-Westlake School from 2005 to 2011, graduating with a High School Diploma. Zach then attended Rice University from 2011 to 2013, studying Mechanical Engineering. Zach completed their education at Northwestern University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering in 2015. Zach has also obtained a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (ICGB) certification from the State of Massachusetts in October 2019, as well as a Radical Management Certificate of Recognition and Commitment.
