Sameer Jiwani

Sameer Jiwani has a strong background in Android development and technical project management. Sameer has worked as a Lead Android Developer at Balcony.io, where they developed a geo-communication security tool used by large-scale NGOs and Fortune 500 companies. Sameer migrated 40% of the codebase to Kotlin and successfully contributed to evacuation efforts in Afghanistan.

At Nanoleaf, Sameer served as an Android Lead, leading the maintenance and development of the company's Android application for smart lighting. Sameer spearheaded major app reliability efforts and reduced the crash rate by 400% over 8 months.

Earlier in their career, Sameer worked as a Technical Product Manager at Snibble Corp, where they hired and led a team in creating a new short-form video streaming app and backend. The initial version of the app reached 100,000 downloads on the App Store, with a video content library exceeding 500,000.

Sameer also has experience as an Android Developer at Symbility Intersect, where they used Model View Presenter (MVP) and Dagger to build the SOHO House Android app. Sameer executed performance testing to improve app load times by 70% in response to user feedback.

Sameer's career began as a Co-Op Software Designer at Alcatel-Lucent, where they worked on the company's large Network Management product SAM, gaining knowledge of Network Management framework and protocols.

During an internship at Xtreme Labs, Sameer worked in a test-driven agile environment, primarily focusing on Android development. Sameer worked on projects for high-profile clients such as NBA, SoFit, and Cineplex Entertainment, developing custom GUI elements and implementing social network and custom API integration.

Sameer Jiwani completed their high school education from East York Collegiate Institute between 2005 and 2009. During their final year, their focus was on mathematics and sciences. Following high school, they attended McMaster University from 2009 to 2014, where they earned a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Engineering. In July 2021, Sameer obtained a certification in Efficient Embedded Systems Design and Programming from Arm.
