Electrical Systems Engineer, Team Lead at Ballard Power Systems

Scott Sweeney has a diverse work experience in the field of electrical engineering. Scott began their career as an Electrical Apprentice at Glenco Electric in 2005 and worked there until 2008. Scott then joined Braid Industrial as an Electrical Apprentice and Journeyman Electrician from 2008 to 2009.

In 2011, Scott worked at Ledcor as an Assistant Electrical Coordinator and Journeyman Electrician. Scott then joined Coast Mountain Bus Company as an Electrical Engineering Intern for a few months in 2013.

Scott's next role was at Seaspan ULC, where they worked as an Electrical Engineering Intern from 2014 to 2015. Scott then continued with the company as an Electrical Engineer, EIT until 2016.

Currently, Scott is employed at Ballard Power Systems, where they hold the position of Electrical Engineer, EIT since 2016. Recently, they have also taken on the responsibility of leading a team as an Electrical Systems Engineer, Team Lead from October 2021 onwards.

Scott Sweeney has a strong educational background in the field of engineering and technical studies. Scott began their education at the British Columbia Institute of Technology in 2004, where they obtained a Red Seal and a Diploma of Trades Training in Electrician, which they completed in 2008.

After working as an electrician for a few years, Scott decided to enhance their skills and pursue further education. In 2013, Scott enrolled at the University of Victoria to pursue a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree in Electrical Engineering. Scott dedicated their time to this program until 2015 when they successfully completed their studies.

Scott's commitment to continuous professional development led him to obtain additional certifications. In December 2020, they acquired the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute.
