Gustav Rydbeck

Gustav Rydbeck is a Partner and the Chief Operating Officer of Investments at Balyasny Asset Management. In his current role, Gustav helps oversee BAM’s three Equity business units and multiple front office teams, including Internal Alpha Capture, Equity Execution, Portfolio Manager/Analyst Development, Product Management, and BAM Labs. Gustav joined BAM in 2014 as Managing Director of Performance Analytics. In 2016, he was named Global Head of Portfolio Manager and Analyst Development and co-founded BAM’s Anthem Equity Portfolio Manager Program, which provides high-performing senior analysts with a pathway to advance to the next phase of their investment careers. Prior to joining BAM, Gustav spent nine years at Citadel, where he designed and sponsored the development of numerous front office equity applications and managed a team of quantitative researchers responsible for helping portfolio managers mitigate risk and drive improved performance. Gustav was class valedictorian at North Carolina State University, where he earned dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering. He subsequently earned his Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Stanford with focus on Signal Processing and is currently a CFA Charterholder.
