David Charles

David Charles, CFA, is a seasoned financial professional with extensive experience in economic analysis, risk management, and financial institution oversight. Currently serving as Principal Economist at the Bank of Canada since August 2018, David coordinates soundness assessments of financial institutions within the Central Bank Lending Division. Previously, David worked as a Senior Analyst focusing on financial market infrastructure resolution and crisis preparedness. David's prior roles include Senior Analyst at the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, Manager of Complex Resolution at the Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation, and various positions at Export Development Canada and MD Management. David holds a Bachelor of Commerce with Honours from Queen's University.
