Mairen Ruiz

Mairen Ruiz is the current principal of the Foundations Academy at Banyan Tree Educational Services. Mairen has been in this position since June 2019. Prior to this, they served as the principal of Excelsior Academy. Before that, they were an instructional assistant for special education at Sweetwater Union High School District from October 2005 to August 2010. In this role, they supported the teacher with daily academic activities and behavior management. Mairen also managed small group activities assigned by the teacher. Prior to that, they were an occupational therapy assistant at ADHD Casa Pacifica from May 2001 to August 2001. In this role, they worked with elderly people providing activities that will exercise their cognition, emotional being, awareness, and other abilities that helped keep the mind active.

Mairen Ruiz has a Preliminary Administrative Services Credential from the San Diego County of Education, a Master's in Counseling and Pupil Personnel Services Credential in School Counseling from Brandman University, and a Bachelor's of Science in Psychology from Universidad Autonoma de Baja California.

They work with Marta Leyva - Principal Excelsior Academy, Katie Wilson - Operations Specialist, and Nancy Macnamara - Director of Admissions/Special Projects. Their manager is Nanci Engle, CEO.
