Jay Johnson has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. Jay started their career as an intern at the Agency for the Performing Arts, where they supported talent agents and assisted with administrative tasks. Jay then joined Overbrook Entertainment as a Development Intern, where they were responsible for reviewing scripts and providing recommendations to the company's partners and development executives.

After that, Jay worked as a Panels Coordinator at True/False Film Fest, where they ensured the smooth execution of various film festival panels. Jay coordinated schedules with filmmakers and oversaw the run of show for each panel.

Jay then transitioned to the University of Missouri-Columbia, where they served as the Campus Film Coordinator. In this role, they produced and directed the first digital content series for the university and collaborated with the Chancellor's Office on campus-wide filmmaking initiatives.

After Creative Artists Agency, Jay became the Director of Business Attraction Marketing at Rhode Island Commerce. Jay redefined and relaunched the brand of Rhode Island by creating new brand positioning, communications strategies, and agency partnerships.

Jay then joined TBWA\Media Arts Lab as part of the Creative Strategy team. Jay contributed their expertise in entertainment marketing to define and launch the Apple TV+ brand and its marquee show titles. Jay also developed a comprehensive social strategy for the Apple TV+ brand.

Most recently, Jay has been self-employed and has focused on marketing strategy and business development. Jay has advised entertainment clients on brand opportunities and has utilized their skills to find meaning, uncover insights, and craft impactful creative solutions.

In 2020, Jay joined the company Barkley in a strategy role.

Jay Johnson attended Pepperdine Law in 2011, where they pursued a Juris Doctorate degree in Law. Prior to that, they studied at the University of Missouri-Columbia from 2008 to 2011, earning another Juris Doctorate degree in Law. Jay also completed their undergraduate studies at the University of Missouri-Columbia from 2005 to 2008, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Business with a focus on Marketing.
