Megan L. Brophy

Senior Scientist in vivo Pharmacology at Be Bio

Megan L. Brophy has a diverse work experience in the field of biomedical research. Megan L. is currently employed at Be Biopharma as a Senior Scientist in vivo Pharmacology since May 2023. Prior to this, they worked at Pfizer from 2018 to 2023, where they held various roles. As a Senior Scientist in the Rare Disease Research Unit, they managed in vivo studies and mouse colonies for rare hematological, renal, and metabolic diseases. Megan L. also supported these studies with work in-life and tissue processing and analysis, ensuring compliance with animal use protocols. Before that, they were a Postdoctoral Fellow in the same research unit, where they conducted research on gene therapy projects related to Classic Galactosemia and AAV capsid transport in the vasculature and blood-brain barrier.

Megan L.'swork experience extends back to 2015 when they were a Graduate Student/Trainee at Boston Children's Hospital. There, they conducted research on the role of epsins in macrophages in inflammation and cardiovascular disease under the supervision of Dr. Hong Chen. Prior to that, they worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center from 2012 to 2015. During their time there, they contributed to research efforts focused on chromosome movement, joining, and separation in mitosis and meiosis, as well as DNA double-strand break repair in repetitive DNA sequences. Megan L. also worked in Dr. Hong Chen's lab at the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, which later relocated to Boston Children's Hospital.

Additionally, Megan has experience as a Laboratory Technician at the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation in 2012, where they studied chromosome pairing and segregation in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Prior to their involvement in research, they worked as a Tutor at Iroonet America, Inc. from 2011 to 2012.

Overall, Megan L. Brophy has a strong background in biomedical research, particularly in the areas of rare diseases, gene therapy, inflammation, and cardiovascular disease. Megan L. has demonstrated expertise in in vivo studies, mouse colony management, tissue analysis, and laboratory techniques such as cloning, PCR, and confocal microscopy.

Megan L. Brophy's education history begins in 2005 when they enrolled at Loyola University Chicago and pursued a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Molecular Biology. Megan L. successfully completed their undergraduate studies in 2009.

In 2009, Megan furthered their education at Loyola University Chicago by pursuing a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Medical Science. Megan L. completed this program in 2010.

Following the completion of their MA degree, Megan went on to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at OUHSC. Megan L. began their doctoral studies in 2012 and completed them in 2018.

Throughout their educational journey, Megan has focused on medical science, molecular biology, and biochemistry.
