Michael Bencsik has had a long and successful career in finance. Michael began their career in 1993 as the Manager of Group Financial Reporting for Westpac Group Finance Head Office. Michael then moved on to become the Financial Controller for Pacific Regional Banking Group in 1997. In 1999, they took on the role of Group Chief Financial Officer for HSBC. In 2013, they became the General Manager of Strategy for Institutional Banking & Markets at Commonwealth Bank. Michael then moved on to become the Chief Financial Officer for First Abu Dhabi Bank in 2014. In the same year, they were appointed as a Board Director and Honorary Treasurer for Barnardos Australia. In 2016, they took on the role of Deputy Chief Financial Officer for Bank of Queensland and Chief Financial Officer for St. Andrews Insurance. In 2019, they became the Chief Financial Officer for Genworth Australia and in 2021, they became the Chief Financial Officer for Beforepay. Michael has also been involved with the Financial Executives Institute of Australia since 2006, taking part in their Mentoring Program in Sydney and Brisbane.

Michael Bencsik attended Newington College from 1977 to 1982 and obtained their High School degree. Michael then attended UNSW from 1983 to 1987 and obtained their B Com degree. In 1992, they enrolled in the CPA Australia Program and obtained their FCPA (Fellow Certified Practising Accountant) Australia degree in 1997. In 1999, they enrolled in the Macquarie Graduate School of Management (MGSM) and obtained their Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree in 2001. In 2005, they obtained their FCCA (Fellow Chartered Certified Accountant) United Kingdom degree from ACCA and their GAICD degree from the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Michael also obtained their F FIN (Fellow) degree from the Financial services Institute of Australiasia. Finally, they hold a Qualifications summary from B Com (UNSW), MBA (Macq), FCPA (AUS) , FCCA (UK), FFIN, GAICD, JP (AUS).
