Alex Cortez

Alex Cortez has a diverse range of work experience. In 2012, they served as a Military Operations Manager in the United States Marine Corps, managing a team of 25 Marines. From 2015 to 2019, Alex worked at Gavin de Becker & Associates, first as a Security Staff Agent and later as a Security Division - Executive Protection Team Leader and Senior Team Leader. In 2020, they joined Flexport as an Operations Associate, responsible for executing shipment movements and resolving issues. In 2021, Alex joined Belkin International as a Security Program Manager, leading security re-organization efforts and conducting global investigations. In 2022, they ran as a Long Beach City Council candidate, advocating for change and empowering communities.

Alex Cortez has a Master of Science (MS) degree in Technology Management from Columbia University. They also have a Graduate Certificate in Project Management from Golden Gate University. Alex earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Organizational Management & Leadership from the University of La Verne. Additionally, they completed General Education coursework at Saddleback College and studied General Studies at Long Beach City College. Alex has obtained several certifications, including (ISC)² Candidate certification from (ISC)², Leading Virtual Meetings, Process Improvement Foundations, Supply Chain Foundations, and What's Next: Reinventing Work in the New Normal from LinkedIn, as well as Fortinet NSE 1 and NSE 2 (Network Security Expert) certifications from Fortinet.
