Schubert Carvalho

Schubert Carvalho, PhD has extensive experience in the field of artificial intelligence and data science. Schubert is currently working as the Director of AI Science at BEN since March 2022. Prior to that, they held the position of Senior Data Scientist at BEN starting from September 2019.

From 2012 to 2019, Schubert worked at the Vale Institute of Technology where they served as a Deep Learning Research Scientist. In this role, they led a team of software engineers and machine learning scientists, developed deep learning algorithms, and automated complex human tasks. Schubert'swork led to the development of 3 embedded software systems and significantly reduced process execution time.

In 2014, Schubert worked as a Visiting Research Scientist at EPFL, where they successfully integrated a motion-capture system and a brain neuroheadset to develop a brain-computer interface system. Schubert also developed an experimental protocol, performed statistical data analysis, and presented scientific findings.

Prior to that, Schubert worked as a Postdoctoral Associate at Queen's University in 2010, where they conducted research on stochastic noise in multimodal perception and developed a theoretical model on brain integration.

Schubert's career began as a Research Assistant at EPFL-VRLAB in 2005, where they introduced a mathematical framework for motion adaptation and presented their findings at various conferences.

Schubert Carvalho, PhD, obtained their Ph.D. in Computer and Communication Sciences from EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne) from 2005 to 2009. Prior to that, they earned their Ms.C. in Computer Science from Universidade Estadual de Campinas from 2002 to 2005. Schubert also holds a Bs.C. in Computer Science from Universidade Federal do Pará, which they completed from 1996 to 2001.

In addition to their formal education, Schubert Carvalho has obtained various certifications. Schubert completed the "Innovation Master Class" and "Become a Product Manager" certifications from Udemy in January 2023. Schubert also completed the "Machine Learning Data Lifecycle in Production" certification from Coursera Course Certificates in March 2022.
