Denice Montaño O'Rourke has worked in various roles in the bioscience field since 2012. From 2012-2014, they were a Molecular Immunology and Biotoxins R&D Intern at CICESE Research Center, where they collaborated in bacterial identification projects and the development of a tuberculosis diagnosis test. Denice then moved on to Unima Soluciones Naturales SAPI de CV as an R&D Lab Technician, where they prepared reagents and culture media, collaborated in the construction of a multi fragment plasmid, and determined the effectivity of the company's "Gleen" antimicrobial products. In 2015, they worked as a Mitacs Bioinformatics Intern at Western University, where they contributed to a project to predict variants affecting mRNA splicing in Breast Cancer patients, created algorithms for the organization and processing of Big Data, and validated transcription factor binding site models. From 2017-2018, they worked as a Biochemist at BD, where they performed protein conjugation for multiple antibody isotypes to fluorochrome dyes, maintained communication with other team members, and managed their time efficiently. Finally, they are currently a Senior Biosensor Research Associate at Biolinq, where they manage projects to evaluate new features or chemistry formulations, maintains clear records of experiments, coordinates resource availability for projects, and assembles, catalogs, images, and prepares biosensors to evaluate formulations.
Denice Montaño O'Rourke's education history includes a Biotechnology Engineering degree from Tecnológico de Monterrey, a Semester Abroad at the University of Exeter, a Secondary School Program at Harvard University, and a Certificate in Brewing from UC San Diego Extended Studies.
