Jack Gilbert

Jack Gilbert has a diverse work experience in various academic and research positions. Jack is currently working at UC San Diego as the Associate Vice Chancellor for Marine Science and a Professor. Jack also serves as the Director of the UCSD Microbiome and Metagenomics Center. In addition, they hold the position of Vice President at Applied Microbiology International. Jack Gilbert is also the Co-Founder and Scientific Advisory Board member of BiomeSense. Previously, they were the Founding Editor in Chief of the mSystems Journal at the American Society for Microbiology. Jack has also worked as the Visiting Yeoh Ghim Seng Professor at the National University of Singapore. At The Microbiome Center, they were the Director and played a crucial role in translating research from the bench to the clinic and field. Jack Gilbert has also worked at The University of Chicago as a Professor and Associate Professor. Jack has experience as a Research Associate at The Field Museum and as a Fellow at the Marine Biological Laboratory.

Jack Gilbert earned a B.Sc. in Marine Biology from King's College London, where they studied from 1995 to 1998. Jack then pursued further education at the University of Nottingham, obtaining a Ph.D. in Molecular Microbiology from 1999 to 2002.
