Erik van Leeuwen

Erik van Leeuwen has a diverse work experience in the field of microbiology and quality control. Erik is currently serving as the Division Head Microbiology at BioNTech IMFS, starting in October 2023. Prior to this, they worked at Thermo Fisher Scientific from 2017 to 2023, where they held various roles including QC Project Manager/Coordinator external QC testing, Interim QC Supervisor in microbiology, and Teamlead/Senior/QC Technician. Before joining Thermo Fisher Scientific, Erik worked at FrieslandCampina from 2015 to 2017 as a QC Microbiologist, responsible for quality control of shelf-stable milk-based products using classic microbiological methods.

Erik van Leeuwen attended Van Hall Larenstein University of Applied Sciences from 2012 to 2017, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Biotechnology and Forensic Sciences. In June 2022, they obtained a certification from the Thermo Fisher Scientific Quality Academy, accredited by Thermo Fisher Scientific.
